Gas storage and distribution, Vacuum and gas injection Systems (GVS) for MITICA and SPIDER experiments of PRIMA facility

The European Joint Undertaking for ITER and the Development of Fusion Energy ("Fusion for Energy")

This contract concerns the supply of the “Gas storage and distribution, Vacuum and gas injection Systems” (GVS) for MITICA and SPIDER experiments that will be hosted in the Neutral Beam Test Facility located in Padova (Italy).
Based on Functional Technical Specification, the contractor will design, manufacture, deliver, install and test the GVS. The detailed design of the GVS fulfilling all the required performance is responsibility of the Contractor.
The main activities required for the GVS are the following:
— design,
— hardware purchasing and manufacture,
— factory test,
— packing, transport and delivery,
— assembly on-site,
— acceptance test on-site,
— final reporting.
The main functions of the plant are:
— feed with the process gas the experiments,
— evacuate the vessels of the two experiments during the pulses, from atmospheric pressure after venting procedures, and during regeneration of cryopumps,
— storage and distribution of all the gases necessary to run the experiments,
— venting the vessels.
The main components of the GVS are:
— forevacuum pumps, turbopumps and cryopumps for SPIDER,
— forevacuum pumps and turbopumps for MITICA,
— Vacuum sensor system for both experiments,
— 3 Gas injection systems (for sources and neutralizers),
— Storage and distribution for H2, D2, N2,
— Auxiliary systems (vacuum pump cooling, control system).
Deliveries will be divided in two stages. Stage 1 will correspond to the delivery of the GVS for SPIDER experiments then stage 2 will correspond to the delivery of the GVS for MITICA experiments.

Pre-financing financial guarantees shall be provided in accordance with Article 1.5.6 of the Model Contract provided as Annex 1- of the Tender Specifications.

In case the grouping has not yet adopted any legal form, tenderers shall be aware of the fact that if they are awarded the contract, Fusion for Energy will require them to sign a “power of attorney” based on the Fusion for Energy model (see Annex 12-Model Power of Attorney of the Tender Specifications) which provides for a form of cooperation.
