Towards a better exploitation of the technical potential of waste to energy under the ‘Energy Union’
The main objective of the study is to prepare a techno-economic assessment that can help support the elaboration of the upcoming 2016 communication on waste to energy, by providing robust and up-to-date information and highlighting options that are technically available but not yet fully exploited. This should be realised through an in-depth analysis of the following topics:
— current use of waste streams in waste-to-energy operations in the EU-28,
— available technical options and innovations on the horizon for improving waste-to-energy operations.
This analysis should conclude with an outlook on waste-to-energy developments taking into account market conditions at present and in the near future.
