Estimation of the costs of work-related injuries, illnesses and deaths for at least 5 countries out of EU28 + Iceland and Norway, using national OSH and economic data

European Agency for Safety and Health at Work

The objective is to estimate the cost of work-related injuries, illnesses and deaths for at least 5 countries out of EU28 + Iceland and Norway, using national OSH and economic data. EU-OSHA aims to make the estimates as reliable as possible, following a methodology and process that is fully transparent and reproducible and that further has the support of the Agency's main stakeholders, particularly Member State governments and social partners of the countries concerned. At every stage of the project, it should be made very clear, on which data sources these estimations are based and how they were calculated. It should be completely documented, which assumptions have been taken to come to the estimations. The report will assist EU-OSHA in its provision of information to support policymakers at European and national level and will provide a strong basis for debate on the key issues. The research will inform the development of strategies both to reduce accidents and disease by regulators and social partners and also pinpoint areas where OSH investments are likely to be most beneficial. Additionally, it will contribute to the promotion and fostering of further research.
