Breve descripción:

The Castor project was the development of an underground gas storage facility on the depleted oilfield of Amposta, located offshore in the East of Spain. (Mediterranean Sea 22 km from the coast).

The newly built underground gas storage facilities consist of a wellhead platform bridge-linked to the process and living quarters platform, a subsea pipeline and an onshore operations plant.

Recently, the decision to plug and abandon the wells is already taken by the Spanish Government. Consequently, a permanently abandon of the thirteen Castor wells shall be accomplished, by using the newest technologies backed by a proven track record and more efficient work platforms.

Hence, it shall be required a Jack-Up MODU in order to enable secure well plug and abandonment operations and the awarding of Well Plug and abandonment integrated services. A unique tender will be issued to cover both scope of works although the award could be the award can be for both scopes jointly or independently.

It will be mandatory that the Jack Up MODU has a EU acceptable safety case, and ideally has worked within the EU recently

The jack-up should be suitable for:

• water depth capability – minimum 60 m. Also, the rig must be able to elevate the drillfloor high enough above the platform to be able to skid to all slots. (c.105 m based on the original Castor wells);

• hookload – It would a minimum of 250 klbs (113 MT), with a worst case overpull of 350 klbs (160 MT);

• POB – 100 beds minimum for efficient operations;

• drilling cantilever skidding envelope – rig must be able to skid to +/-19 m beyond the transom;

• fluid storage capability –2 000 bbls (300 m

Restriction of fluids dropped into the reservoir is a major constraint as it might require to handle a vast volume of fluids during well clean-up and cementing operations.

The well plug and abandonment integrated services shall carry out all the services and equipment required in to permanently abandon the 13 Castor wells by using the newest technologies backed by a proven track record, and more efficient work platforms.

The integrated services will include, besides the integrated well management services, the bidder awarded will be responsible for all specialized services and will provide response in terms of equipment and operational support to deal with all the possible contingencies identified in the detailed engineering phase. The jack up contract will be handle as part of the integrated services.

The integrated company shall coordinate the different disciplines involved in the plug and abandonment operations in a safe and efficient manner and integrate all operational programs for each discipline in the final execution program.
