Superconducting magnet system for the European gyrotron prototype for the ITER electron cyclotron system

The European Joint Undertaking for ITER and the Development of Fusion Energy ('Fusion for Energy')

This technical specification concerns the detailed manufacturing design and analysis, electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings, control and monitoring system, procurement of materials, fabrication and assembly, factory tests, packaging and delivery, on-site installation, and on-site acceptance tests for the supply of a superconducting magnet system to be used as part of the European development programme for the development of the EU gyrotrons for ITER.
The superconducting magnet system is composed of:
(i) the magnet assembly including the solenoidal and dipole coils, the supporting former structure, the thermal shields and cryogen chambers as needed, the cryostat, the top and bottom flanges supporting (respectively) the gyrotron tube and the gyrotron oil tank, the openings for vacuum pumping, measurement and safety valves, and the current leads and electrical connections;
(ii) control and protection system; and
(iii) all auxiliaries including diagnostics, protections and ports, as required for helium bath or cryogen-free designs.
